You’ll see plenty of the Buick Encore on the roads and highways of Woodbridge, Vaughan, Brampton, Kleinburg, Mississauga, and the Greater Toronto Area, but the all-new 2024 Buick Encore GX takes the familiar nameplate to another level. While it’s clear the redesign has a younger demographic in its sights, the premium style and quality of the all-new Encore GX will appeal to a broader audience than ever before.
Even though the size and overall silhouette of the all-new 2024 Buick Encore GX remain largely unchanged, there’s plenty to admire about the all-new model that makes it a genuine upgrade from its predecessors. The most notable changes for the 2024 model year include revised exterior styling, including a restyled front end with a lower grille, chrome accents (on Avenir trim), and racy detailing on the Sport Touring model to give the compact crossover SUV a sporty look. Buick hasn’t overlooked the interior, either. The new model boasts a new dash with upsized screens, offering a more high-tech and modern feel. Another notable upgrade this year is the introduction of the 2024 Encore GX Avenir, a new high-end trim level that adds more premium features and styling elements.
Although the new 2024 Buick Encore GX is roomier inside than you might think looking from the outside, there’s no denying the urban focus of this premium compact crossover SUV. Most versions come standard with all-wheel drive, but the Preferred entry-level model is front-drive in its standard format. The engine powering is a thoroughly contemporary 1.3-litre turbo-three that puts out 155 horsepower and 174 lb.-ft. of torque. In its most basic front-drive format, the GX sends its power to the front wheels through a continuously variable transmission. However, upgrade your Encore GX to an all-wheel drive, and the CVT gets replaced by a nine-speed automatic transmission. Comprehensive fuel economy ratings are unavailable, but GM expects a combined fuel economy rating of around 7.8 L/100 km.
You can choose from three grades in the 2024 Buick Encore GX lineup. The entry model is the Preferred, the mid-range offering is the sporty Sport Touring (ST) model, and the new range-topper is the appropriately upscale Avenir. As you might expect from a premium brand, all three versions of the new Encore GX come very well-equipped. The Preferred trim comes with standard 18-inch alloy wheels, premium cloth & leatherette seating, a heated steering wheel and front seats, an 11-inch diagonal infotainment screen, and an 8-inch diagonal Driver Information Centre. The ST trim level adds 18-inch high-gloss black-painted wheels, a flat-bottomed steering wheel, black exterior styling cues, and the Sport Touring logo embroidered on the front head restraints. At the pinnacle of the range, the Avenir comes with standard 8-way power-adjustable, leather-trimmed front seats with the Avenir logo embroidered on front head restraints, 19-inch alloys, upscale chrome exterior accents, and plenty more.
