The interior is mainly familiar, although all models now get a 10.0-inch diagonal centre screen for the infotainment system. Even the most affordable models come with standard bucket seats, an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, and almost 40 inches of legroom for second-row passengers. With strong engines and impressive handling, the 2023 Chevrolet Blazer really is the complete package.
The 2023 Chevrolet Blazer configurations reside squarely in the Goldilocks zone. There aren’t too many or too few; it feels as though Chevy has got it just right. For example, there are four available trim levels, a couple of superb engines, and a choice of front or all-wheel drive. And just for good measure, if you want your Blazer to look even more stylish, there are also Midnight/Sport Edition and Redline Edition upgrade packages available. The 2023 Blazer LT comes with the base 2.0-litre turbo-four engine and front-wheel drive, with AWD available. The more powerful engine is also available for the LT, but the V-6 is strictly AWD.
The other three trim levels are the True North, RS, and top-of-the-range Premier, which all come with the 3.6-litre V-6 engine and all-wheel drive. The 3.6-litre V-6 engine provides the all-new Blazer with 308 horsepower and 270 lb.-ft. of torque, but the turbo-four is no slouch. However, the turbo-four isn’t exactly pedestrian either, with its 228 horsepower and 258 lb.-ft. of torque. All versions of the 2023 Chevy Blazer get a nine-speed automatic transmission as part of their standard specification.
The 2023 Chevrolet Blazer is configurable to suit a wide variety of different prospective owners. When equipped with 2.0-litre turbo-four engine, for example, the AWD system is a straightforward and reactive unit that only engages the rear axle when a slipping front wheel is detected. However, a model like Blazer RS features a more advanced setup with a twin-clutch rear differential for distributing torque between the rear wheels for improved grip and better handling.
With the flip of a console switch in the Blazer RS, a Sport mode is activated, encouraging the transmission to hold low gears longer, dig deeper into the power band, and change the steering response. The 2023 Blazer is certainly no lightweight, but even the 2.0-litre Blazer boasts a 0 to 100 km/h time of around eight seconds, and the V-6 can manage it in close to six seconds. Turbo-four models have a maximum towing capacity of 1,588 kg with the available trailering package, while V-6 models see that rating increase to an even more impressive 2,041 kg.
The previous Blazer was already a very safe SUV with good crash-test ratings, but the 2023 model year sees an even greater emphasis placed on Blazer safety. All versions of the 2023 Chevrolet Blazer now come with the Chevrolet Safety Assist package, which includes Automatic Emergency Braking, Front Pedestrian Braking, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Following Distance Indicator, Forward Collision Alert, and IntelliBeam automatic high beams.
A Safety Plus Package is also available if you choose the RS or Premier trim levels and safety features are a significant factor in your buying decision. The Safety Plus Package adds wireless charging, HD Surround Vision, a rear camera mirror, Adaptive Cruise Control, Enhanced Automatic Emergency Braking, Safety Alert Seat, and LED headlamps. It makes a lot of sense to add this to either of the two top trim levels.
