If you’re shopping in Woodbridge, Vaughan, Brampton, Kleinburg, Mississauga, or anywhere in the Greater Toronto Area for a new full-size pickup truck, the all-new 2024 GMC Sierra EV is an exciting new direction for the GMC brand. There’s no internal combustion engine and no emissions coming out of the tailpipe, but there is plenty of power, performance, and immense capability from a cutting-edge fully-electric powertrain.
The first thing you’ll notice about the 2024 GMC Sierra EV is how incredibly stylish it is and what a big impression it makes when you first see it. The exterior doesn’t stray too far away from traditional pickup truck styling, but there is a decidedly futuristic slant that’s sporty and aggressive without being polarizing. There’s no grille to dominate the front fascia because there’s no need for one, but the LED backlight surround with a backlit GMC logo at the front of the Denali Edition 1 model is a stylish substitution.
The interior is as high-quality and stylish as you’d expect from a high-end GMC pickup truck with quilted leather upholstery and open-pore wood. But there’s also an airy and spacious feel to a cabin that’s very contemporary and a touch minimalist, with a dash dominated by a massive touchscreen for accessing many of the Sierra EV’s onboard systems.
It’s all well and good looking the part as a modern, cutting-edge pickup truck, but regardless of what it’s powered by, a truck has to do what trucks have to do, and any lack of capability would be an unacceptable weakness. That’s not an issue for the 2024 GMC Sierra EV, as some of its numbers put its gas and diesel-powered rivals in the shade. Front and rear electric drive units work together in an e4WD system, which in Max Power mode, gets a GM-estimated 754 horsepower and 785 lb.-ft. of torque to the wheels for exceptional traction and capability. The Sierra EV can also tow up to 4,309 kg and haul a maximum payload of 590 kg.
There are no worries about that all-important driving range on a full charge of the Sierra EV’s battery either. GM estimates a range of 640 km for the Sierra EV, and the impressive charging functionality inspires even more confidence in the fully-electric powertrain. The GMC’s 800 Volt DC Public Fast Charging capability at up to 350kW means you can add 160 km of range in just 10 minutes.
A 16.8-inch-diagonal freeform infotainment touchscreen, which is the largest ever in a Sierra, dominates the dash of this stunning pickup truck, but it’s only part of a raft of cutting-edge technology on offer here. The Sierra EV features a trailering-capable version of Super Cruise, a hands-free driver assistance technology available for more than 640,000 km of compatible roads in the U.S. and Canada.
The Sierra EV also features five customizable drive modes, 4-Wheel Steer, CrabWalk, Variable Regen on Demand Braking, One-Pedal Driving, MultiPro Midgate, eTrunk, Air Ride Adaptive Suspension, and plenty more.
